Medina IS the place to be!!! Check out this listing of events! Summer is right around the corner, which means Medina soon will be buzzing with entertainment and activities. Each week in June, Public Square will host a variety of free events coordinated by nonprofit organization Main Street Medina: • New this year is Kids Day of Play from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 7. The event takes the place of the city’s annual Chalk Art Festival as a way to gear the day more toward families. “The Promotions Committee decided to revamp the Chalk Art Festival into a more active and interactive family day,” Main Street Medina Executive Director Matt Wiederhold said. “There are a ton of activities in which kids and families can participate.” Activities will include games of chance, a fitness challenge, hair braiding, sand art, bean bag tic-tac-toe, building with blocks, kids yoga, bubbles, hula hoops, friendship pin-making, plus magic, juggling and dance performances. Schlonegar’s Ice Cream will be at the event, churning out freshly made, all-natural ice cream for purchase. Radio Disney will deliver a two-hour performance of music, games and prizes 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. • On June 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., is the second annual Pizza Palooza, but this time local nonprofits will be at the event highlighting different ways residents can give back to those in need. “There are many in our community who are underserved or in great need of resources,” Wiederhold said. “The nonprofit day, in conjunction with Medina County Pizza Palooza, will hopefully raise awareness of both the needs in Medina as well as the answers.” Residents will be able to buy tasting tickets for $8 and vote on their favorite pizza to win Medina’s Best. Confirmed pizza shop participants include Gepetto’s, Gionino’s, Hungry Howie’s, Marco’s and Romeo’s Pizza. • On June 19, Main Street Medina will host Ladies Night Out from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thirty locally owned and operated businesses will be open evening hours and feature special shopping deals, samplings of specialty food products and mini-makeovers. “It’s a great way to remind the community that there is a vibrant shopping district by opening business’ doors and welcoming them,” said Debbie Wentz, Promotions Committee and Ladies Night Out chairwoman. • Antique Lover’s Weekend is at the end of June. Events throughout the county will include antique shopping, several antique shows and sales, historic property tours, music, food, craft demonstrations and historic cars. The weekend will kick off June 27 at Weymouth Country Club, 3946 Weymouth Road, Medina Township, with a Treasure Hunters Boot Camp and Item Appraisal Luncheon. Tickets are $45 and include an educational seminar on how to spot good antiques and collectibles, a full buffet luncheon and a verbal appraisal of one item. On June 29, the third annual Medina Square Antique Show runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Public Square. The sale will feature more than 50 noted dealers from Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan, Indiana and Connecticut. • For more information on Main Street Medina and upcoming events, visit mainstreetmedina.
