Meditate with Power! “Abba Father”! Romans 8:15 “Abba, Father.” Meditate on God’s Word! One of the shortest phrases in the entire Bible is used only three times. Let us examine each to study how God has given you a precious gift today that reaches the heart of God, whenever it is used. Jesus used these words, at one of the most difficult times in His life. He was about to go to the cross for you and for me as He prayed; “He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. 34 “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,” he said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.” 35 Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him. 36 “Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” Mark 14:33-36 You can feel the anguish, sorrow and anxiety as Jesus used a very special term of endearment that was used to express a deep love for your father, “Abba” The second time it is used is when Paul knows the church in Rome, the pagan capital of the entire Roman empire, is about to experience persecution for believing in Jesus; “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to son-ship. And by him we cry, “Abba Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.” Romans 8:14-16 Have you ever met a family that loved their adopted child as if it was a child that they carried for nine months and gave birth to? If you have then you have seen the face of God. This is pure love and gives new meaning to the term “Abba Father” Finally the struggling church in Turkey, fighting against legalism and false doctrine receives this message from Paul who is teaching them about grace and the Holy Spirit; “But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to son-ship 6 Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba Father.” 7 So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.” Galatians 4:4-7 If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are an adopted son of God and have access to heaven through the Holy Spirit, living within you. Use these two simple words as a guarantee that God hears, understands and wants to meet your need today, no matter how small or large the request. “Abba Father” https://youtube/watch?v=yZ7RFAiixIA
