Meet Lexi. Lexi is a beautiful one year intact female Boxer that is coming into the program because she is not getting along with the resident female dogs in her home. She is said to be fine with other dogs outside the ones she lives with, but for now we will be placing her as an only. Lexi is very well mannered, crate trained, house broken, knows all her basic commands. She waits for her food, waits when the crate door is open and will wait before she goes outside. She is very timid upon meeting new people, and needs to meet new people on her terms, but once she does, she will warm up quickly and become your best friend. She has not been socialized well, so she is fearful of many things. Her new owner must take things very slow and introduce things and people to Lexi in a proper and positive manner. Lexi is not spay as of yet, because the vet thought she might be going into a heat cycle, so once she settles into her new home, we will have her seen by our vet and have her set up for her spay. Lexi is a typical sweet 1 year old Boxer, that will need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. She is currently spending way too many hours in her crate due to the fact that she is not getting along with the other dogs in her home. She will need a savvy owner, one that will work with a positive trainer to help socialize her and expose her to things in the real world environment, and to help her gain some confidence. She would benefit from an active household, someone that would love to take her for walks and hikes on a daily basis. Lexi has never been around cats or small children, so we will not be placing her in a home with cats and small, children. Lexi will be a “work in progress” and will need a home that is 100% dedicated to working with her.
