Meet The Cloud Machine. Its been specially developed for my Josh Award sessions with children with Special Educational Needs. The amazing crafting is down to Richard Ellam (LM Interactives) who could see what I was trying to achieve and made it happen. Every child will be able to control the making of a dry ice cloud in complete safety. Trial sessions have shown that for some children it is a purely sensory experience but some gain new language and others gain a firm grasp on states of matter and how they change. Thank you to everyone who helped me brainstorm ideas for the equipment and to The Josh Award panel, BIG, MOSI and Manchester Science Festival for their support (especially Marieke Navin, Bridget Holligan, Richard Ellam, James Soper and Ian Russell). The sessions will be taking place next week and I hope to have more photos and videos of it in action.
