Melvin Okoro Kicmett is Liberias World Player of the Week The player widely regarded as the Liberian Messi, Melvin Okoro Kicmett, is the World player of the week from a Liberian perspective. The 26 year old left footed bomber and club mates are celebrating as their club Phichit FC have qualified to the First Division in Thailand as they are at the top of the tree in Group A of the Regional Group League Play-offs in the Thai Second Division. Phichit FC achieved the feat after playing to a grueling 1-1 draw to BCC Tero at home on Saturday, December 6, 2014. They qualified with 16 points from nine games and a game to spare in the six teams play-offs. Kicmett showed he is a good customer in front goal as he netted 18 goals from 24 games in the regional league, and in the play-offs, the onetime top scorer in the Liberian First Division scored eight goals in nine games, making him the top scorer in the play-offs and scored a record 26 goals as a personal best in the 2014 Thai Second Division league season. Their last match which is an academic one is on Sunday, December 15 away to Udon Thani. The sublimely gifted forward who had stint with the then Haja FC, Liberia Black Star and LPRC Oilers on the local scene, moved to Cameroun to showcase with Tonerre and later Union Sportif de Douala with a stint in Mali at Club Olympique de Bamako and had matches in Sierra Leone and Angola in the African continental competition before moving to Asia, specifically Thailand. In Turkey, the Second tier league saw mesmerizing winger Tonia Tisdells club Osmanlispor bundled away to a 1-3 defeat to Kayserispor. Osmanlispor ended with ten men due to red to the scorer Reis. Tisdell who started the match, was substituted 12 minutes to the end with Marek Sapara coming on. Despite the loss, Tisdell and teammates remain at the top with 27 points from 12 games and their conquerors, Kayserispor, sitting at second with 25 points from similar number of matches. Teenage striker Sekou Conneh played the full match but could not help his club Fortuna Sittard from being demolished 3-0 away to Almere City. Conneh who played the entire match now has to get his scoring boots on as his club is at the 17th spot in the 20 teams league with Almere City at the 8th spot in the Dutch lower division. Anthony Snorti Laffor was part of the winning side as his club Mamelodi Sundowns drubbed Free State Stars 2-0 in the South African Premier League. Laffor came on after 32 minutes for the Zimbabwean Cuthbert Malajila as Sundowns, nicknamed the Brazilians, moved to second spot , 13 points behind Kaizer Chiefs. Finally, Theo Lewis Weeks will be in action this evening when his club Maritimo travel to Nacional in a Portuguese Primera Liag fixture. Theos Maritimo are tenth spot and will be hoping to improve their standing on the table.
