Members, allies and friends As you probably know, IPA has spent the past few months fighting hard for Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) with a path to citizenship for 11 million aspiring Americans. Last month, we celebrated as the Senate passed S 744—a bill to address our broken immigration system—but, we know that this bill still faces tough opposition in the House of Representatives. We are at a crucial moment in this struggle and we need all hands on deck for the month of July! This upcoming week, we will focus on CONGRESSMAN RODNEY DAVIS by making phone calls and doing an action. Our mission is to compel him to: 1. Put pressure on House leadership to move forward with immigration reform. 2. Give us a commitment that he will vote in favor of a path to citizenship. 3. Go public! Do a press conference with IPA around the issue of Immigration Reform. Here’s the plan… On the week of July 8th, we are asking you to CALL Congressman Davis EVERY DAY to make our message impossible to ignore. D.C. Office: 202 225 2371 or Decatur Office: 217 791 6224 The Message: "Congressman, my name is _____ and am a constituent from ______. I am calling today to urge you to pressure House leadership to move forward with immigration reform AND to ask that you set an example by coming out publically in support of a path to citizenship. We need your leadership on this important issue. Thank you." On Monday, July 15th: Join IPA clergy and immigrant leaders as they march and drop off a letter for Congressman Davis in his Decatur office. Monday July 15th at 12pm Congressman Davis Action Meet at First Presbyterian in Decatur (204 W Prairie Ave. ) *Bloomington: Carpool will leave at 10:45am from IPA Office (510 East Washington Street, Room 309) Please help us spread the word and bring lots of people to stand in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors!
