Memories:..A typical day in the life of living in the mid 70s Winter, in a one room stone house, with no power and no water, in Cerrillos, NM....Get up at 5:00, boil water on a small wood stove to pour over frozen pump, wait and tote water, make tea or coffee..Pack daughters lunch..get her off to school..then roll up her mattress off of the table.. have small breakfast..wash up and do hand laundry on wood stove..chop wood..jerk 12 lbs of marinated beef sewn on strings and hung outdoors near roof to dry..later hang from rafters..carry basket to walk desert picking up cow pies from wild cattle and wood ash for compost heap..do some painting or leather work..tote water to wash floors and chink walls with mud...build fire out of doors to cook dinner..light kerosene lamps...wash up..tote water for baths in galvanized tub..Read from books by lamplight, usually Tolkien, until bedtime..and then start over the next day...
