Memory Verse “O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.” Psalms 34:3 When we use a magnifying glass, the object at which we are looking appears much larger than the way we normally see it. The more we magnify something with a microscope, the less significant the other things around us become. If we magnify something enough, other things vanish from sight. So it is with God. The more we magnify Him, the less important the things of the world become. Notice, that the way to magnify the Lord is to exalt His name. Jesus’ name means “God who saves and keeps.” The more we focus on His work (His death payment for our sins and resurrection) in salvation, the less important our own works become. Until we realize that our works or lack of sin is in no way involved in our getting to heaven, we are still magnifying our own works.
