Mental Tips To lose weight is as much mental as it is physical. If your minds not in the game you wont have much success 1. Be patient: Rome was not built in a day, so dont expect the weight youve gained over 5 years to disappear in 3 months. Give yourself time for it to work and youll see results. If you must check your weight, I recommend you do it once every 2 or 3 months and no matter what the scales say, do not be discouraged. 2. Imagine the person you want to be: Have a clear goal in your head about what you want to look like in a year or two. It will help encourage you in times when you dont feel like doing anything. 3. Let them laugh: People love to tease fat people and make fun of them all the time; especially when they see you working out. Dont listen to them. When youve achieved your goal, youll have the last laugh. Eating Tips Fat people dont want to hear that they have to cut down on the food they eat or even cut down on certain foods as well. To be honest, if you want maximum impact, you need to change your eating habits drastically; but since this is for lazy people, here are a couple of shortcuts that will help. 1. Replace Ingredients: Instead of your favorite brand of pasta, look for whole wheat pasta. Same applies to white bread; you could make that sandwich you love with brown bread instead. You can also replace regular meat with lean meat or even chicken and replace groundnut oil with vegetable oil. You can also replace soft drinks with juice or flavored water. Asides a few minor taste differences, you should be able to eat all your favorite meals in a healthier fashion. 2. Smaller Meals: If youre a heavy eater, you should consider using a smaller plate to eat your meals. You should also consider eating 4- 5 small meals a day instead of 3 heavy meals. Youll find that youre eating a lot less without even knowing it and youre still having fun. 3. Dry or roasted snacks: If youre really hungry, try a bag or two (or three) of roasted groundnuts or very dry plantain chips. Youll need to drink a lot of water along with it as well; and in doing so youll discover that your stomach feels full very quickly. Youre loading your stomach with fewer calories while fooling it into thinking that youve eaten a heavy meal. This applies to food as well, the dryer the food, the heavier your body feels when you eat. 4.Digestive Overdrive: Add plenty of pepper and leafy vegetables to your food. This triggers bowel movements i.e. you go to the toilet more frequently. The body will accidentally get rid of some of the nutrients in your food with the waste it is trying to push out, which means less calories. Its not pretty, but it works. IF YOU HAVE AN ULCER PLEASE AVOID THIS METHOD BY ALL MEANS, IT COULD BE DANGEROUS FOR YOU. 5. Bitters: Your local pharmacy should have bitters in either liquid or tablet form. As the name indicates they can be very bitter, but daily use of bitters will aid bowel movement, remove toxins and reduce your weight. Please consult your pharmacist or doctor before taking up any new medications. Exercise Tips Every overweight person hates to hear the word exercise, but truth be told it cant be avoided. The best we can do is make it as subconscious and convenient as possible. 1. Dance, dance, dance: Whether youre in the club, in the car, in the office or at home; listen to good music and dance to it. Dancing is a fun form of exercise and you wont even feel like youre working out. 2. Keep important things a distance away: Leave your mobile phone upstairs, and leave the remote control beside the TV. If you need to use them, you should get up, walk to them and when youre done, put them back down. Believe me, if you use your phone or the remote control as often as I do, you would burn a few calories by using this simple technique. Its annoying I know, but would you rather spend 2 hours on the treadmill? 3. Take walks often: Instead of using the intercom, walk to your colleagues desk, instead of sending the office assistant to get you lunch, take a walk to your favorite restaurant. If you have an mp3 player, plugin and take a short walk around your neighbourhood and see whats going on.
