Mercies In Disguise I stopped to have the oil changed in my car at a business in Ft. Oglethorpe Saturday afternoon. Within minutes of pulling out onto the road, my battery and engine indicator lights came on. The radio died. My car started to feel like it needed to change gear - but wouldnt. I made it safely to my driveway; however, once I turned off the car, it would not restart. Zack Chapman, Lloyd William Chapman, and my Daddy came down after church on Sunday to look at my car. The problem turned out to be the alternator - - and the car had developed a flat tire overnight! They took off the dead alternator, and Zack took me to Ft. Oglethorpe to buy a new one. IF the alternator had not died, Zack, Lloyd, and Daddy wouldnt have had a reason to be working on my car, and they would not have discovered that my just-put-on brand new oil filter wasnt tightened / put on properly. It was 4 1/2 revolutions from being tight, and the 5 quarts of new oil had begun to steadily ooze out while I drove home. Daddy said the improperly-tightened oil filter would have allowed all the cars oil to leak out, which would have ruined my cars engine. When Zack took off the flat tire to inspect it for nails or punctures, he discovered that one of the brakes calipers was loose and rubbing against the tire. (A caliper is essential to your cars ability to stop and are arguably one of the most important automobile brake parts.) They were able to fix the caliper and inflate the tire. It turned out the tire didnt have any punctures after all! Thank you, Zack, Lloyd, and Daddy, for giving up your time to work on my car yesterday. Thank you, Morgan, for offering to take me to get the new alternator. Thank you, Austin and Chris, for calling to check on me. Thank you, Cole, for your offer to help. I am blessed with an amazingly supportive family! BUT MOST OF ALL THANK YOU, LORD, FOR STOPPING MY CAR IN A SAFE PLACE AND ALLOWING MY SMALLER PROBLEMS TO HAPPEN BEFORE THE BIGGER PROBLEMS COUND MANIFEST THEMSELVES. Thank You for keeping me safe. I am reminded of that song . . . . . .Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops What if Your healing comes through tears? And what if a thousand sleepless nights Are what it takes to know Youre near? What if my greatest disappointments Or the aching of this life Is the revealing of a greater thirst This world cant satisfy? And what if trials of this life The rain, the storms, the hardest nights Are Your mercies in disguise?
