Merry Christmas FB friends. Im at the airport and will be checking in @30 min. for an on-time flight to be with my Mom, Dad, 4 siblings, 2 bros-in-law, niece, 4 nephews, Aunt and friends for @30 years from college. Mixed emotions swirl. My children will spend the rest of the break with their Dad. Thats normal. However, Christmas eve and family plans were thrown naughty, nasty curves. My Dad was stricken by the flu last week, hospitalized, then transferred to a nursing home. He is in an isolation unit still contagious with a fever. Mych of the time while Santa was traveling bearing gifts, my daughter was vomiting @8X between 2am-9am. Very messy, chunky. 3 loads of laundry including most of her bedding. Spot washing and rinsing of her long locks while she laud prone on her bed. Also, manueuvering around her to wash the wall and glob from the carpet in the crevice between her bed in the corner of her room. Very, very high on the yucky meter. Blessings that we opened our gifts after Christmas Vigil mass and all was calm and bright before we went to bed @11pm. Thank you tons to Alison Newlove for taking time from hosting her parents and family celebration to check on Marian periodically. Father Stefans homily last night emphasized that God came and became one of us, fully human, while fully divine, as a helpless baby incarnate of the Holy Spirit and born to a brave young virgin woman and her faithful husband in a stinky, dirty stable and manger. This Christmas, I can truly appreciate the imagery and amazing miracle that God loves us so much that he came to be with us more than 2,000 years ago in a stinky, smelly stable far away from an utterly insignificant and undistinguished hometown, Nazareth -- literally at the end of our rope -- God comes TO us. Father Stefan said that when we feel that weve failed and are most helpless and hopeless, God still invites us to welcome him into our hearts, no matter how dirty, stinky and messy our lives and hearts may be. When, were at the end of our ropes, God sends his grace TO us. I am grateful for the love of family and friends and the Christmas blessing of love, hope and peace to all people. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!
