Merry Christmas Morning to you! Well, we did it!!! We made it home in time for Christmas!! As I sit here this morning, in my family’s kitchen, with the sun shining and a cup of (decaf) coffee, I am so overwhelmed by all of the love, encouragement and amazingness shown from everyone I know through all of this. I would not have been able to do this without all of you, without my amazing family and most importantly my faith. Today is a challenge; in fact each day is a challenge in its own regard. I am a very, very independent, impatient person; the perfect attributes to have when going through the most humbling experience of a lifetime. Without the full ability to move my head readily, I am very dependent upon my family for help with basic lifestyle activities, and most of them make me feel like I have just run the Boston Marathon, twice. While this is a frustrating time for me, I know that it is all with purpose and will only help me grow stronger. So a few medical updates, I am still in vertigo, basically meaning the world is constantly moving and I still have very limited use of the left side of my face. I am working on the half smile right now. Further, I have lost taste in my mouth. Both of these are expected to come back to 100%, the deal is it just takes time. I am having some pain in my joints, but that seems to be a side effect of steroids, which I am FINALLY finished taking!!! All-in-all, I have it pretty easy. That being said, thank you, thank you, thank you to you all for reaching out to my family in this time, the encouragement to them is just as important as mine. This cannot be easy having to basically take care of a child again, and I know they appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers as well. I am so excited to hear about all of your holidays and begin to reintegrate in to a “new normal” lifestyle!!!
