Merry Christmas! Usually I dont have much time to reflect this - TopicsExpress

Merry Christmas! Usually I dont have much time to reflect this time of year. My schedule just doesnt allow it. I know Im not alone in that. However, this year I am blessed with an extra long layover in beautiful and today warm, sunny Los Angeles. Ive had time to spend with my oldest and his lovely gal. These are sweet days. Before I begin, forgive my grammar. I am not a writer, I am a speaker. Now, I have some time for reflection. I believe Christmas time or holiday time or whatever time you want to call the end of one year to the beginning of the next, presents the perfect opportunity for a look-back, for a look forward and the question. After all I, being one who celebrates and believes that Gods Love came down in the form of a baby, need to ask myself a question that Jesus himself asked of many. I believe He asked it of himself before the crucifixion. This question just happens to be a question I have used to refocus and instruct my pilot training students. I have used it through the years to help my kids evaluate their own behaviors and set their own paths. Its one that I have forgotten to use on myself as of late. Its simple, but only works if you provide an honest answer. You dont have to believe in Christmas (celebrating God as man come down to take the consequence of our sin) or anything else for that matter. But, as we run around providing commentary on others, defending our beliefs, being outraged or just busy busy busy, let us take the time to take in those around us. Let us take the time to care. Let us take time to love and live. For, to borrow a line from Chris Rice, its not the dates on your tombstone, but the dash in between. So, I ask you the question that David Tabor leaves us with in his short The Seas of Metropolis. Lets see if you can find what it is. Thank you David. It works for me. Merry Christmas all! youtu.be/wBpyIynuGD0
