Message From Veteran Ram Gulrajani Today afternoon I met the Income Tax Officer regarding some errors in the final Assessment Orders of my wife. He immediately called his two assistants dealing with her case and told them to rectify it by the evening and inform me on the phone that it has been done. He did not know that I am a Veteran. I complimented him for the quick disposal of my appeal and added that this kind of efficiency exists only in the Defence Forces. He disclosed that he had spent 10 years in the Indian Air Force, had voluntarily retired as Sergeant and had one more year left to finally, retire. When I gave him my visiting card, he immediately got up from his seat, stood in attention and said it was his great pleasure to meet a person from Forces. Before I reached home from the IT office, I got a ring from one his assistants that the fresh Assessment Orders for both years have been issued and that I will get the hard copy by tomorrow. I have narrated this very fresh incident to underline that those who spend a few years in the Forces do carry our sense of responsibility and efficiency with aplomb. It is unfortunate that so much trained material is wasted by GOI because Babus will feel threatened with the level of efficiency, discipline and sense of responsibility that Ex-Servicemen will induct into the system.
