Message from Sarah: Hey everyone- I love seeing the posts from you guys because it makes me feel like Im not alone. I was in an abusive relationship for 7 years and my ex wouldnt let me leave for the last 2 of those years. He didnt beat me to hell or do anything that could leave a long lasting mark, but he was physically abusive. His biggest m.o. was control and so a lot of what I endured was emotional and verbal abuse. He also raped me after I told him I wanted to leave and that produced my son so I went back to him for awhile. The biggest mistake I ever made was not calling the police on him. Because of that, I am now facing an uphill battle in family court because he has been verbally and physically abusing my kids (but of course not leaving marks). My kids have done everything they are supposed to - they have told counselors, their school principal, even an ER doctor when my daughter was suicidal over having to see him. They have sent me texts telling me what hes doing and my son has taken a picture showing his father hit him repeatedly in the arm. Theu have written letters to our judge explaining what they go through. So far, I havent been successful in getting his visitation supervised because he plays the victim so well and when I step in the protect my children he claims Im alienating him as a parent - and now he has gotten more visitation. My question is have any of you gone through something similar and if so, do you have any suggestions or advice? My kids are 12 and 11.
