Message I left stated the following- My name is Jessica Roach and I am a parent of two children actively involved in the Columbus City School District and one child who previously attended. I am calling to voice my concern and my EXPECTATION that you will represent the voices of the parents and students in our district, and that you state that we say a clearly resounding NO to the possible elimination or limiting of services by the specialist positions as defined by Art teachers, Music Teachers, School Counselors, Social Workers, and Nurses. As a nurse for 17 years in the State of Ohio with a background in Neuro- Behavior, Maternal/Infant Health, and Pediatrics, I am fully aware from a place of understanding key developmental milestones that these services are IMPERATIVE to the growth and development of ALL our children, but especially important to those children who need additional support and alternative pathways to neurological growth and behavioral development. For the sake of ALL our children, please represent my voice, and the clear voice of other parents across the State of Ohio who say these are OUR children and OUR schools and we DO NOT approve of limiting or eliminating ANY services in addition to what is considered the core curriculum We need Arts and Social Services to help develop productive individuals in our societies and the exposure to these resources are important for that to occur, in particular with our youngest members during their most fragile phase of development.
