Mi barrio..the history behind this wall...first pic was taken somewhere in the mid seventies (homies touching it up) second pic is one of a few groupe shots taken in 79 by lowrider mag..this mural was first painted in 1972 by a niegbhood homeboy for the barrio, it was dedicated to all the homies who had passed away, if you look closely at the first pic just next to the Florence you can see the names of those who had passed away and new names were added from time to time..the mural was later recognize by the local church and was blessed by the priest, years later lowrider mag came by and done a story on the niegbhood and shot a few pics..I remember that day like yesterday, I was about 12 my sis came running in my room a t took my Mexican flag of my wall...I was like what you doing..she says we need it for a pic for lowrider..I was like where my flag goes I go..so yes Im on the roof next to my flag...unfortunately I big brawl broke out that day at the local park just down the street from the mural with the sheriffs..the pics got lost and story was never printed..years later the city threatened to take her down because of the ties it had to the niegbhood, so we agreed to take down the names if she stayed, .. but till this day everyone who lives in the area knows that on this wall all the names remain..the wall stays u touched by taggers and other barrios due to respect and loyalty....MI BARRIO..
