Micah step 2: I can only work for about an hour at a time on detailed tedious work like this before my fingers start going numb. (Thank you carpal tunnel.) But its probably a good thing that Im forced to take breaks. When you take time to step away for a bit, you find the most glaringly obvious mistakes when you come back. How did I miss that before??!! The answer is, I was just too close. If you compare these photos with the previous post youll notice that Ive straightened and widened his neck on the left side of the drawing. Not quite sure how I got that weird curve on the side of his neck before, but its gone now. Ive just been adding more layers of shading all over the face. Mostly trying to create more mid-tones. Those, I think, are the trickiest. I started to work on the hair, but then stopped and went back to the face. Im not sure how I want to approach the hair, so its better to stop and think about it some more. Im going to have to start on it soon or Ill end up overworking the face because I keep going back to it. Stay tuned for step 3 and have a great weekend.
