Michael: My apologies for not giving an update after we got the blood counts back on Friday. I thought I had. Grants platelet count was only 39 and they need to be 125 to have chemo. Thats in thousands by the way. The Nurse will come out to the house again tomorrow to take some more blood and we should know Monday late afternoon if Grant can go in on Tuesday to start round 5 of chemo. We are praying that he can move forward with chemo on Tuesday so we do not get too far off of schedule. Also, Grant seems to be having trouble walking again. Not sure if this is from the cancer specifically or what. We have some questions for the doctors this week about that when we see them. It is discouraging to see him digress. He seems to be saying he hurts more often now. The good thing about Grant not going to chemo this week is we have had an extended time at home together which has been great. On Saturday June attended the tribute to Quiet Heroes Luncheon, a fundraiser by CURE, which is a childhood cancer foundation based here in Atlanta. They invited 240 moms who have children currently fighting or have fought cancer. It was a great event and June was able to meet many of the mothers of children that we follow and talk to via FB. The childhood cancer community is very close. Mothers truly are the quiet heroes in a childs fight against cancer. Mothers console and love and comfort, but when a child has cancer they do it through the tears their children shed knowing there is nothing they can do to fix it for them. We were able to attend church today and then we got in our annual pumpkin picking trip to Washington Farms in Watkinsville. We knew once the last round of chemo got started it would be tough to make it there the rest of the month. It was great to let the kids be kids, and Grant was excited to go down some slides and see the pig races. He got tired quickly though and his bones started really hurting him by the time we left. June and I will be speaking on Tuesday afternoon to a group of CHOA employees that are in charge of raising money for the hospital. It will be a great opportunity for us to tell our story and why CHOA is so special to us. Tuesday evening I will be speaking to some students in Athens that are part of the Rally Foundation chapter at UGA. If you have a student at UGA please let them know they are welcome to attend. It will be at the Tate Center at 7 PM in room 472. Please pray for June and I to be able to tell our story in a motivating manner. Please pray for Grants bone pain to subside and that his counts will be where they need to be to move forward with chemo on Tuesday. We are very thankful for the time we have had at home, but we are also very mindful of the aggressive cancer in Grants body and we want to move forward with treatment asap. Thank you to everyone for the continued prayers and support. One step at a time. One prayer at a time. #graceforgrant
