Michael put me forward for the 10 Most Influential/Life-Changing - TopicsExpress

Michael put me forward for the 10 Most Influential/Life-Changing Albums thing. I found this really hard and most likely put way too much thought in to it. In no order: 1. Mansun // Six This is the first album I remember appreciating as a whole body of work when I first heard it on MiniDisk! It flows so well. 2. Portishead // Portishead I love Dummy, but heard this first while decorating at my Dads and remember being like, What the hell is this!? 3. The Smashing Pumpkins // Siamese Dream The guitars in this album blew me away when I was young. Definitely the seed that has me addicted to Nirvana, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, Superheaven, Nine Black Alps, Dinosaur Pile-up and all things grunge. 4. Mastodon // Blood Mountain Total game changer for me. Groovy. 5. Thin White Rope // In The Spanish Cave Not a weak track in site. So diverse. This thing blew my young mind! 6. Biffy Clyro // Infinity Land Loved their previous albums, but this one clicked with me. Through 4th-6th year I listened to this album at least three times a day: morning paper round, getting ready for school, evening paper round. 7. Love // Forever Changes Another album that changed everything I thought I knew about music when I was younger. 8. John Martyn // Solid Air Gold. 9. Elliott Smith // Elliott Smith My favoutire guitar player, musician and song writer? Probably. 10. Joy Division // Unknown Pleasures Very late to the Joy Division party (like, 3 months ago) after being introduced by a friend, but this album never stops amazing me. I cant believe its taken me so long to get in to them after realising how many bands they have influenced and how new their sound must have been back in the day. Honorable mentions: (All of these could easily be on this list, each changed music for me, there could easily be more. 10 is not enough.) Daft Punk // Discovery At the Drive-In // Relationship of Command Led Zeppelin // Led Zeppelin II Aesop Rock // Labor Days OutKast // The Love Below Kurt Vile //Smoke Ring For My Halo QOTSA // Songs for the Deaf Radiohead // Kid A Rage Against the Machine // Evil Empire Jeff Buckley // Grace Justice // Cross Neil Young // Harvest Nick Cave // Murder Ballads, Push the Sky Away Bob Dylan // The Freewheelin Bob Dylan Slipknot // All Hope Is Gone Howe Gelb // Sno Angel Like You Ben Folds Five // The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner SBTRKT // SBTRKT Weezer // Weezer (Blue Album) Grandaddy // The Software Slump Beck // Mutations Notorious B.I.G // Ready to Die Foo Fighters // One by One Way too much time on my hands. People whos lists Id genuinely like to see are: Andrew, Steven, Iain, Witchy, Paul, Ben, Kris, Louie, Ben, Jawn, Isaac, Katy, Gavin and Chad
