Milking It? I note that 4 days after the election Fonterra - TopicsExpress

Milking It? I note that 4 days after the election Fonterra announced cuts in the milk pay out. I wonder when CEO Theo Spierings knew that information? And if so, when he could have released it? A week before the election? Two weeks before? Not that Im suggesting that Spierings would have done National (the traditional party of the farmers) any favours by possibly withholding the drop in milk prices from the Pubic you understand - just that it would have been nice to have been able to take that information into consideration as we tried to fairly assess Nationals economic performance over the past 3 years. No doubt Bill English and John Key will claim that they couldnt have foreseen such a drop in dairy prices when at the Sept 8th Press Conference ( and a year on from the Milk Powder debacle ) Bill English assured NZ there would be a surplus this financial year. Unfortunately this wont wash as an excuse for offering something that sounded like the promise of a surplus but is fast becoming a maybe. Because if Bill English and the Prime Minister were unaware of the rapidly falling trend in the Global Dairy Market over the last year ( see the graphs in the article below) then they are not as economically savvy as they would have us believe... or maybe they took a holiday in the couple of weeks running up to the election and stopped Working For New Zealand.
