Minister HRDD interacts with school heads on quality education and shaping Nation MANGAN, November, 3: On 3rd, Minister HRDD, RB Subba attended the programme as chief guest, interacts with North district school heads at Zilla Bhawan, Mangan, on quality education and shaping Nation. Presents were Principal secretary, G.K Upadhaya, Director, N.T Sherpa and Bhim Thatal, Project Director SSA, Mamta Thapa, Up-adhyaksha(N), N.T Lepcha, joint director, HRDD(N), Sonam Lepcha and staff, Principals and headmasters. Joint director, HRDD(N), laid down problems & issues faced at school levels stating, paper handing & taking of the fixed assets of 12 schools under HRDD North, diminishing students enrollment at the primary schools, closure situation of few primary schools, non allotment of stationeries and ancillaries grants to SSA established and upgraded schools, timely release & enhancement of school ancillary grants and provision of furniture’s. Director, NT Sherpa, focused on how to combat with schools problems under RTE and we must try to implement the proper RTE norms and each & every schools should hold guardians meeting to share problems and to take out solution for improving enrollment from primary section. Director, Bhim Thatal stated that, charity begins from home but future begins from school. The department is trying to sanction and approve of continuous learning classes in winter vacation so that everyone will get in touch with books and education. Knowledge, skill & attitude factor is most important for all, the department will start bulk sms gateway system for teacher’s information, he said. All schools should share their data and information with concerned Assistant directors and teachers should submit their professional training details at earliest so that only needed professional training will be provided. In open discussion headmaster, YB Tamang, stated that CCE and free dress & text books schemes should be kept as usual and before taking any class make a lesson plan and teachers should also go through the text books so that students can be explained properly. Headmaster, C.T Lachenpa suggested for nursery level education for infants at every government schools. Chewang Lachungpa Shipgyer monastic school suggested providing sufficient teachers in remote area schools for friendly environment and proper education. Headmaster, K.C Bhutia in her suggestions laid down to appoint counselors for counseling parents and students which is beyond teachers job. Principal Secretary, HRDD, stated that we all know all the problems and now need to bring them on right track with proper cooperation. So government teachers are compatible & had quality education, just need to give proper time with proper guidance to students and guardians and also make school development plan and make it constant. Project Director SSA, Mamta Thapa, in her address briefed on education system, school development plans and other grants provision. Problems are there but have to sort out the solution for improvement, she informed. Chief Guest in his address, stated that there are several gaps in education system but we have to fill up the gaps with our cooperation and hard work under RTE. Students basic education is fundamental rights and if guardians don’t send their children to school then department has to sort out the solution and implement RTE rules and regulations against careless guardians, if they don’t agree with proper information. So, it was also informed that we have to work hard and up to 2020 have to make our human resource at least 50 percent capable. He, also informed that, those teachers having family problems may proceed for transfers before 19th December 2014. And at the end of the programme the school heads were handed over free Lenovo laptops for official use.
