Minister Phungzathang marries a nursing student MU NEWS/IMPHAL, Jan 16 : Manipur Health and Family Welfare Phungzathang Tonsing (77) tied knot with a 27 year old local girl in a dazzling marriage ceremony this morning at Minister’s Salem house at Sangaiprou (Paite Veng) in Imphal. With opening song followed by opening prayer, the wedding ceremony was administered by pastor T Tunthiangmang while the blessing of family was conducted by Rev Gin Malsawm. Movement of normal traffic along the Sangaiprou FCI godown has been closed in view of the wedding ceremony which was attended by state Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh led who’s who of the state. Besides Sangaiprou junction along the Imphal International airport road was packed with VIPs flag cars and other vehicles forcing the district police to utilize Traffic policemen to control at the junction prior to the marriage ceremony till the report goes to the website. On Thursday, a send-off ceremony was already held at residence of the Minister’s assembly constituency-Churachandpur district headquarters about 65 km south of Imphal. The bride whom the Minister married was none other than Thangngaihsang (27) daughter of T Khamzadou of Hebron Veng, New Lamka in Churachandpur district. Thangngaihsang who is popularly known as Sang among her dear and near one, had just passed B Sc nursing course. Minister Phungzathang who was born on July 14, 1938 has two sons-Khangthang and Lapu and three daughters-Khumi,Chinghoih and Lulun. His first wife passed away in 2011 due to an illness.
