Miracles do happen as shown through Kevin. Prayer is so powerful. Friends and family are so important in Kevins recovery. Please continue to hold Kevin up in prayer. Barb Dockendorfs update on Kevin. Oct 17, 2014 12:29 AM It was an amazing day for Kevin! When I had arrived at the hospital, Kevin was surrounded by his good friends, Sam, Will, Adam and Aaron, who got to see him walk for the first time! (that is, since his brain trauma!) He walked between the two P.T. Sarahs around the nurses desk area of the 6 West respiratory unit while the guys followed him with a chair (just in case he needed to sit down). WOW!! I was so surprised he could do this since he had never even stood up prior to this time. (except for being on his feet for about a minute prior to this walk) Talk about wanting to show off for his friends! He had even been sleepy prior to this- now I know its his friends that motivate him! His nurse also shared with me that he had said the words I want to move. He was very tired later, understandably, but I know that Kevin was so happy to spend time with his friends and to have their support. I was so elated to see him respond so positively! A favorite verse of mine from the book of Sirach (Catholic bible editions) is about friends- the title of this update is the beginning of this verse. It continues with these lines which so aptly describes the importance of friends: Faithful friends are beyond price, no amount can balance their worth. Faithful friends are life-saving medicine; those who fear God will find them. Sirach 6:15-16 Thanks, guys, for rallying around Kevin!
