Mmm lets all goto Thailand for our holidays, and eat the local delicacies in the posh 5 star hotels. Local traditions like this one would put me off visiting such a country...its just not something I could turn a blind eye to, even if it is hidden from the casual tourists view, Id know it was happening in the backs streets and in the real Thailand. I agree that its no different to any other meat and an animal has to die a hideous death and thats why Im vegan now as I dont want that on my conscience but the lack of a governing body for this kind of meat, the deplorable abuses and lack of any form of compassion dished out to these dogs really does need to be questioned, discussed and ultimately brought under control. There is nothing traditional about the pure mistreatment and abuse of these poor animals...just mankind making a mint out of their misery and I think anyone going to these places and spending their money as blind and blinkered foreign tourists need to see the reality of the country they are visiting rather than the sanitised glossy brochure version.
