Mom Post: I want or really NEED to rant!! i am soooo sick of people stating step mothers will never be the REAL mum I mean what kind of BULL is that?? oh thats right, so many people just see us as stand ins till the BM gets her act together then we have to back up a bit and go sit in the shadows while everyone plays happy families. Hell no! When my partner and I got together my kids BM had been so in and out of their lives that by the time I got they were used to not having her around, does anyone know how heart breaking that is?? to see the look in kids eyes when theyre asked about their mother? where she is? when shes comin back? whats she been doing? (not asked by me) and the answer was always shes drunk or shes gone to party or we dont know yes I stepped up and it took 2 yrs of bonding and doing everything their mother should have been doing before my kids SK started calling me mum (their choice). but i can not stand how people will say SM or SD will never be the kids Real mum and dad. we know we didnt wake up one day and think we had pushed full grown kids out. I always hear step parents need to know their place, but thats funny, what does that make the real BM or BD that hasnt been around for months? no contact no nothing?? I am my kids MUM whether other people like it or not, i take responsibility for loving, caring, feeding and clothing, homework and schooling, brushing hair, doc appmnts EVERYTHING a real parent does for their child and ill be damned if anyone will tell me to step back after all the hard work ive put in with my kids. my view is the BMs and BDs are no longer real parents if they took time (days, weeks, months, years) out of their kids lives just to get their act together, it takes more then just making and pushing out a child to be a parent, it takes raising them to!!!
