Monday is going to be a great day and i refuse to think about the bad that day its a celebration of our city and our country. Today though i remember sitting at mile marker 25 in jubilation and then a million police cars zoom by. We all stepped into the bar and the mood changed from a party to everyone watching the news in shock. I went back outside and all the runners were still running they had no idea. (Most locals know that a large portion of marathon participants are running for a cause. Whether it be to raise money for a fund they believe in strongly, because they overcame a disease and want to put an exclamation point on putting that period of their life behind them, or they run for a loved one who passed or has suffered a tragedy which no longer allows them to run themselves). For them to be at mile marker 25 and be robbed of the thrill of crossing that line; no one had the heart to tell them to stop. That there was no finish line. That their months or years of training were for naught. We just continued to root them on in shock. It was one of the most awkward confused feelings of my life. I hope they get to run again and finish this year and we will all be there to cheer them on again.
