Mondays Summary of the National Forecast from D. Saurer: NO - TopicsExpress

Mondays Summary of the National Forecast from D. Saurer: NO severe weather or thunderstorms are expected anywhere across the Nation for this afternoon or evening hours. We are under an overall weather pattern consisting of a large and strengthening Arctic Canadian high over most of the Northern portions of our Nation, this morning that is continuing to sweep that cold Arctic front towards the Southeastern portions of the Nation. This is the cold front putting an end to the warm weather weve received late last week. Temperatures are going a good 20 degrees colder for tomorrow after one more mild day of seeing some 50s and 60s. The flow out of the Northwest will bring some possible light sleet and patchy freezing drizzle from West Virginia into New Jersey for later today. There is some cold air damming going on East of the Appalachians which is expecting to bring a layer of colder air to slide under the warmer air aloft to allow the conditions for some mixed wintry precipitation. Be aware of some slick travel spots, later on today. In the Western portions of our Nation, we can see some periods of rainfall and some mountain snowfall for portions of California and Oregon as a couple disturbances will slide on through from the Pacific onshore flow. Heavy rainfall is likely at times in the drought stricken areas of California, which is welcome news there. Forecast is calling for two to three inches locally by Wednesday morning. Some of this moisture is expected to hit the Intermountain region to the Central Rockies where some of this will be snowfall in the highest elevation, with rainfall in the valleys.
