Money matters will often put our character to the test. God calls us to be honest even in the smaller matters. If we make it a habit of cheating in the smaller things, that are easily covered up and explained away, we forget the seriousness of any kind of dishonesty. In moral matters, the consequences are weighty even if the actual substance of the actions is of little value. The amount of money stolen may make a difference in the magnitude of punishment if we are caught, but it is the dishonesty itself that God judges. We are to be honest in all matters period.
