Kilburn, will be joining one of our clients, Wayne Farms LLC, as their Assistant Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, starting in January, 2015. Wayne Farms, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Continental Grain Company, is one of the largest poultry producers in the world, with annual sales in excess of $2 billion and operations in 5 states employing over 9,000 employees. While losing one of our partners is never easy, this is an amazing opportunity for Jeremy and we are proud that Wayne Farms recognized the value and quality of the legal services offered here at Preston & Malcom. So much so, that they have hired away one of our best. Jeremy has been a partner here since 2009, gaining valuable experience advising numerous corporate clients of all shapes and sizes in governance and operational matters. It is that experience, according to Wayne Farms Chairman and CEO, Elton Maddox, which was attractive to Wayne Farms and has helped prepare Jeremy to assume this new role. “Jeremy’s experience in our industry, coupled with more than a decade of experience advising business clients of all shapes and sizes, across numerous industry sectors in his private practice, has uniquely prepared him for this position with Wayne Farms. Put simply, this is the position Jeremy was built for.” Jeremy grew up working in and around the poultry industry in Texas. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri, Jeremy continued his preparation for this opportunity by obtaining a Master’s Degree in Poultry Science along with his law degree from the University of Georgia. “Jeremy is one of the only lawyers I know with a background so specific to the poultry industry. That is one of the many reasons we are so pleased that he is coming on board with us,” observed Barb Mistarz, Vice President and General Counsel of Wayne Farms. “This is certainly a bitter sweet moment for me. It was not an easy decision,” says Kilburn. “The team here at Preston & Malcom is family to me, and I’ve enjoyed developing many great relationships and friendships with our clients here these past eight years. Jeremy will continue to reside with his family in Monroe, their home for 14 years. He will also continue his service on the Walton County Board of Education, currently serving as Chairman.
