Monuments under the light of Athens (GREECE) This course aims to provide both novice and more experienced photographers with a series of lectures, tutorials and practical field sessions on archaeological photography by developing their artistic vision and commitment to technical excellence. Students will be introduced to the history of archaeological photography starting as early as the mid 19th century over viewing eminent photographers who experimented with photography as a new form of art. They will be studying the works of F. Boissonas (1858 – 1946), Herbert List (1903-1975) Nellys (1899-1998) and Walter Hege (1893–1955) who experimented extensively with natural light and produced masterpiece photographs of the ancient Greek temples. Students will have a chance to see original photographs of the early masters kept in the photographic archive of the Benaki Museum.
