Morality in Governance: This is perhaps the stupidest thing I - TopicsExpress

Morality in Governance: This is perhaps the stupidest thing I have heard since May. A governor attempts to argue that there is no morality in government. I thought governors should exhibit intellectual suppleness and be adroit with words. Could this be why the Rivers state government has become a moral vacuum? Isnt empathy an aspect of morality? What about trust, honesty, faithfulness and commitment to service; dignity, honour and love? What about conscience and justice? Hubert Humphrey, former Vice President of the United States, once said: The moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped. Natural Law theory holds that law and morality are connected; that Law is not simply what is enacted in statutes, and if legislation is not moral, then it is not law, and has no authority. There is morality in government. Good morning. dailypost.ng/2014/11/04/morality-governance-want-moral-go-church-governor-amaechi/
