Morals and values do not have to be "Christian" to be right. Most, if not all religions rely on the sense of right and wrong as well as caring, compassion, respect and love. Hindu Right, Hindu Left, Conservative Judaism and Reformed Judaism, Radical Islam and Non-radical Islam and Buddhists and even atheists all have their perspectives. All of these positions belong in a church, synagogue, temple or mosque or anywhere other than IN GOVERNMENT. As Americans, native born or immigrants we have the right to believe as we choose. Along with that right come the responsibility to respect the rights of those who do not share our perspectives. The duty of those entrusted with the power to govern is to ensure that these rights are preserved and protected and not to force their will or beliefs on anyone. Governance is the art of civil discourse that leads to compromise thus creating a civil society. The extremists on all sides religious and non-religious, conservative or liberal need to understand that this country is not a nation predicated on the notion of "My way or the highway," or "All or nothing" but rather a nation that was intended to be respectful of all. TO GOVERN IN ANY OTHER WAY DISRESPECTS THE TEACHINGS OF THE DEITIES THEY CLAIM TO BELIEVE IN (OR NOT BELIEVE IN) AND IS IN AND OF ITSELF INHERENTLY WRONG!
