Morayaaa ..!! This is something very different than what I always write, it’s about emotions, attachments and culture towards one city. Belgaum … my Janam Bhumi. This city is always special for me in all the terms , it may be my school life or college life , but what’s so special about today ..!!?? Its Ganesh chaturthi ..!! The day when you see true color of belgaum, for this day..We belgaum people work day and night, and we always pray that the rest of 11 days when our Bappa(Lord Ganesh ) is there with us in our nearest pendaal goes smooth ..!! My friends in Bangalore often ask question, what is so special about this festival in your place. why do you miss so much ?? I always answer them with smile … to understand that special feeling please do visit Belgaum and feel it. Then they say we will but explain now.!! Here it goes …!! People wait for this day praying to come soon because, this is the festival when our house will be full of kids , relatives and also the elderly people , It’s the time to teach our culture to kids who stay out of Belgaum , many times it’s like elderly person will take kids for shopping n ladies of the house will be busy in preparing sweets .. Young generation of the house will be busy in decoration work ,cleaning , painting and also inviting their friends and helping ladies for different work . Kids will enjoy this time because the grand parents will take them out for walk in city, telling different stories about the Lord Ganesh, and kids always ask 100 questions those can be answered only by grand parents :) :) When it comes to sarvajanika Ganesh utsava ..!! Youth plays important role, they make groups among them and they go all over the city and bring all the things that are needed . for this work they tell lies , bunk college , school, they get scolding’s for not completing home work but they want to be part of this ganpati festival work , this is so special they will give all possible reasons n run way and be part of this . If the kid is not in house at evening time the only place u find them is nearest pendal , that kind of magic or attraction towards the bappa will be their . After all this mantap , decoration and unique Idle of ganesha ..!! One thing which makes every person proud and part of this festival is the jhaanja patak ( Band) ..!! In every colony or galli group that starts practicing the Band months early and people just help those youth with everything right from the snacks till the practice place..!! And they want it to be the best when it is compared to other colony.!! People feel the heat, the beat, the liveliness, when the music hits them. Youth of Belgaum says: It’s the sound of “jhaanja patak “(band) that makes my feat move magically, It’s an electric wave that flows like 100000 volt in my body.. It’s the bass of dhol , makes change that brings to everyone who is witnessing the event . It’s the silence of sambhala , which indirectly tells you to change your steps of dance . It’s a sound of taala which makes a magic and you join your hands for a different step ,and it also has a power to make a mob stand still in one place for more than hour ..!!its drags u out of your house , sometimes it just goes in a flow which makes your eyes full of tears and you find yourself standing in front of Bappa (Lord Ganesh ) with folded hands .!! Moray is a sound which brings everyone together. My friend says: wow ..!! I want to visit your city …! My answer was its your city too, you heard the story and you felt it, so it’s your city now..!! They said: thanks yaar ..!! Whatever I wrote today about Belgaum and Ganesh festival is like 1% of reality..!! There are many more things about it for that visit it and fell it . As usual I want close the post with few lines: When I sit alone in Bangalore and close my eyes, Belgaum shows its different color. This time you showed me most colorful days from my past, Bappa is always special for me and many people of Belgaum. When i travel in my memories of Belgaum , Belgaum takes me to every mantap in the city, I can hear that background music of that place. That Aarti of Bappa which makes every individual to stand in front of him like hypnotized, That sound of jhanja patak which creates magic in the air and makes you dance with beat, That 10 feet idle of your, with all new kind of decorations and new look of yours says " I’m nothing in front of you".Bappa I’m missing you like a kid who lost his parent in a crowed ..!! One word to sum it up all is “Mooooooraayaa …!!“
