More Festival details! Following the Writers Workshop and Opening Reception on Friday with Anthony De Sa (Kicking the Sky) and Terry Fallis (No Relation), the Festival moves to the Riverwalk Restaurant (upstairs) for the Saturday events. Enjoy breakfast with two humorists, award-winning author, Richard Scrimger (Zomboy) and Orillia author, Jim Foster (The Crowning of Miss Mariposa). Then share lunch with The New Spellbinders, four debut novelists, Krista Foss (Smoke River), Ali Bryan (Roost), Janet Turpin-Myers (Nightswimming) and Anne Lazurko (Dollybird). Their exciting new novels range from wise and funny to nostalgic and reflective. Mid-afternoon, authors, M.G. Vassanji (two-time winner of the Giller prize) (The Magic of Saida) and Muskoka’s, J. Patrick Boyer (Our Scandalous Senate) will talk about their recent publications in conversation with attendees. The day ends with a dramatic flourish at the Festival Gala dinner with novelists, Michael Wuitchik(My Heart is Not My Own) and Craig Davidson (Cataract City). If you eat novels for breakfast, join us Sunday for more specials. Enjoy your meal with a water view of the Muskoka River at Riverside Inn and conversation with Novelists, Michelle Berry (Blind Crescent) and Catherine Bush (Accusation). The Festival comes to a satisfying conclusion after breakfast at Bracebridge Library where Claire Cameron (The Bear) and Glad Bryce (First In, First Out, The RCAF Women’s Division and Nursing Sisters in WWII), will discuss the inspiration for their uniquely different books. For event registration and tickets, visit NorthWords.org or visit Watson Labour Lawyers, 3 Manitoba Street, Bracebridge (Mon-Fri, 9 am – 5 pm). Events are priced individually or a discounted weekend pass is available (Pass does not include Writers’ Workshop).
