More about jury sequestration from criminal defense attorney Amir Ladan, "The purpose of sequestration is to limit any outside information and thereby any outside influence on the jury’s analysis of the evidence and their assessment of the case. Therefore, it is likely that they will not be permitted to watch t.v., read the paper or have access to the internet during the pendency of the case. It would be odd for the judge to allow them to return to their homes at night as there will be no means to ensure that they are not inadvertently exposed to information that they should not have access to. The judge will instruct the jurors that they are not to discuss the case with anyone and that they are not to do any independent research on the case. They will be instructed that they cannot go to the scene of the crime and I expect that they will have law enforcement details assigned to their temporary residences while the case is pending. I do not expect that they’ll be permitted to see their family or anyone else if in fact the court requires them to remain at a hotel or other temporary lodging. After court is done, their daily routines will be somewhat limited. If you’re sequestered, you’re pretty much locked down in the hotel so you don’t have a lot that you can do. I’m sure they’ll get bored, or maybe they’ll find a way to use that time to get caught up on their reading list."
