More information from the meeting that the public needs to be aware of; Fire Chief Greg Young stated that there has been very little discussion about the 911 system. He stated that this existing 911 system garnered a little over 80% of the available points on the ISO survey. If a new conglomerate were to take over and does not accumulate at least the same percentage of points then people in the county could possibly end up paying more for fire insurance which could be substantially more then the cost of this levy. Chief Young explained how the ISO ratings work. ISO is the Insurance Services Organization it’s the agency that tells the insurance underwriters what their risk is on what the responding services are capable of. Between your ISO rating, credit rating, and distance from the fire station is what determines what your home owners insurance costs. If any significant decrease in available points is lost then every home owner in the County could conceivably have to pay more home owners insurance because every fire department’s ISO rating could increase. Chief Young stated that could get expensive and feels that this fact has not been brought out. He stated it is time that the Fire Chiefs know what is going on so that if something is being done that is going to affect us (territories) so we can attempt to do something about it
