More misleading state initiatives - Maine Bear Hunting Ban Initiative, Question 1 is not about conservation at all. It originated as a failed piece of legislature that was endorsed by animal right activist Rep. Denise Harlow (D-116), with endorsements and financial support from the radicalized Humane Society of the United States. The initiative is so lacking in rational thought and science foundation, even Maines state biologists and game wardens, the people actually charged with managing Maines wild life population, are warning people to vote NO. Question 1 is yet another attempt at shoving a national agenda down Mainers throats. By going with an initiative, the group does not have to get through the Legislature, does not have to get voter support and can totally circumvent the Maines Department of Inland Fisheries and Waterways.
