More than half the water and grain consumed in the U.S. are - TopicsExpress

More than half the water and grain consumed in the U.S. are consumed by the beef industry. If we took half the land that were now using to produce corn and beans to feed animals, and instead dedicated that to produce food for people right now, Faber said, we could feed an additional 2 billion people. This argument is basically how my sister Judith convinced me to give up meat altogether (the fact that I was engaged to a vegetarian at the time didnt hurt). Interesting to see on the graphs in the article how beef and chicken compare on the pollution spectrum, though. I was a little disappointed to see how poorly cheese performed, but encouraged by yogurt.
