More than just gumboot dancers in red overalls. The news today that Floyd Shivambu has just been awarded a genuine Masters degree in political science from Wits is impressive. No easy feat. During his time at Wits University, Shivambu completed an undergraduate and honours degree in international relations and politics. He was also the president of the Student Representative Council (SRC) from 2004 to 2005. Shivambu is not the only fighter with an impressive academic record. The EFF’s national spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi holds a masters degree in political sociology from Wits and is currently a PhD student at the same university. All I can think is that the ANC will really have to watch their ps and qs. The EFF crew may be populist leaders but they are not stupid. Nor do they have to lie about fake qualifications they do not have.
