More than two sun-cycles passed in silence since the The Excursionists did tackle their epic endeavor. No longer bound by the weight of their oath, those brave souls disbanded and dispersed to the maps most distant corners - some falling off of it entirely. But the shadows whisper; they tell tales of new challenges rising up across the Kingdom - some the scale of the very mountains themselves! Winter is coming... but theres still time to get some solid adventuring in before it hits, and certainly still adventures to be had even during the cool rainy months :) . With our fearless leaders permission, I will be mixing new blood into the group and establishing new events throughout the year, and encourage others to do the same! I would like to see our scope expanded - in regards to the types of activities we undertake as well as our geographical region of operation; while certainly SLO-centric, even if you find yourself 300 miles away dont write us off just yet - there are many places that are begging to be explored between yourself and SLO! A few of the activities that I personally plan/desire to undertake this year that I would love your esteemed company for: - Short excursions - Day trips (usually destination-hikes) - Camping and smore-eating (sometimes I just need to get out of my apartment for a night) - Backpacking (multi-day hikes) - Rockhounding (collecting shiny minerals/fossils) - Geocaching (perhaps even a team-based geocaching competition?) - Paragliding (lessons with the Eagle crew down in SB - three of us have been pursuing this for a while, now - its a blast :D) - Trailrunning (I want to hit a new trail every week) - Battling White-Walkers in the north (Canadians?) I have few other ideas, but they can be discussed when more appropriate. If theres something youve been dying to do, chime in! Cheers for now sports fans - Vive la renaissance des Excursionnists!!
