Morning Reminder. Thursday. Rullings on adopting Nicknames in Islam. Alhamdulillah. Islam is a complete code of life which deals with all sorts of issues. Bassically , there is no harm in adopting any good meaningful nickname as long as they do not imply anything impermissible, such as contempt, hate, pride, arrogance and so forth. It is narrated in Imam Bukharis al Adab al Mufrad that the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) would refer to Sayyidah `Aisha as Aa-ish and Sayyidina `Uthman as `Uth. So we call our love ones Princess, Darling etc. Lets just avoid using bad nicknames like negga etc. Such bad names only aid us to be arrogant and pride which is a form of shirk. Todays Reality is that we want Big Houses but Small Families. More Degrees, Less Common Sense. Advanced Medicine,Poor Health. Touched Moon, Neighbours Unknown. High Income, Less Peace of Mind. Good Knowledge, Less Wisdom.Number of affairs, No love. Lot of friends on Facebook, No best friend in reality to remind us of Allah and death. Costly Watches, Missing salaat times. We ask Allah to have mercy on us protect us from any pride and arrogance. Amin.
