Morning all. Well! What a wonderful memorial concert for Graham - TopicsExpress

Morning all. Well! What a wonderful memorial concert for Graham Dyer was last night. Sheffield friend, Paul Pearson popped in on his way to Ulverston and, thanks to the organisers and sound engineer, I managed to get him an all too short half hour set. Paul was followed by The Lumps, originally conceived as a three piece band comprising Rantin Reg, Gary Weldon and yours truly but for the night, enhanced by Linda Weldon on Recorder and Diana Denney on mandolin. Following this, came a set from Diana, who, in my humble opinion, is at her best in this solo format. After Diana, came Gwen Hechle and despite recovering from Laryngitis, gave a consummate performance. Finishing off this part of the nights entertainment was Crissie Black who gave us one of the best sets I have ever seen her do. After a moving speech from Sally, Grahams widow, the music continued with a stonkin display of ProgRock from Barrow-based five piece outfit, Big Dwarf and finally, to close down the entertainment were The Bag of Spanners with a manic example of their trade mark Scumbrian Folk. Its great that people get up and dance to show their appreciation. Including me, though I had to be dragged, screaming and kicking to the dance floor by Annie! And a special Thank You has to go to Chris Garratt for all his hard work on the sound desk. I do so hope that Sally was happy with the success of the evening even though it must have been hard for her and the family. Shine on, Graham.
