Morning devotion 11th August 2013. Topic: Be gentle. Text: "And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient," (2 Timothy 2:24). To be gentle means being mild in temperament or behavior; kind or tender. It also means calm. Some1 that is not gentle is rough. Rough has 2 do with strive, violent, harsh etc. In our world 2day, so many pple are rough, harsh & not gentle in appearance, relationship & dealings with pple. They are ready 2 fight, even for nothing. Their radical level is high even when its not needed. In churches they cause commotion, problems & confusion etc. It is worthy 2 note here that as children of God & christians, we ought 2 b gentle. Christ our role model was gentle thruout his stay on earth. He never made noise or lifted up his shoulders. Even God himself is also gentle which is evidenced in his Spirit- The Holy Spirit which rested on Jesus like a dove after his baptism. We all knw that dove signifies gentleness. In our text, Timothy was admonished by Paul 2 b gentle un2 all men & not strive which he said is a condition 4 a servant of God. N/B Gentleness does not depict weakness. If we claim 2 be children of God, we must b gentle as an evidence bcos God is gentle. God is d most powerful being in d universe but yet d most gentle. Not being gentle could lead 2 pride.
