Morote Uke applications, check this out on YT and will will see various explanations for how this assisted forearm block should be used. I am not so convinced by traditional karate explanations. The main characteristics of this supposed block are that the arms form something not unlike the figure 4. Some of you will know where this is going. I submit to you that the morote uke is not a block at all, but rather an elbow joint attack. Recently Lorenzo Bagnai was teaching the elbow joint attack. I neglected to film it. :( The movements are similar to when Maul Mornie performs the flying armbar. The difference in execution is in how you take the arm.
