Most of you all that know me, know of whats been going on with my family and the struggle weve been through with my mom havin cancer on and off since late 1999 early 2000. She lost her battle today at 3pm. Its been a long road for sure and she had it beat until February when it came back. It originally started in her lymp nodes she had chemo and got it beat. It came back in 02 or 03 in the lymp nodes she had chemo and radiation this time got it beat again. She had a congested heart failure in 07 or 08 and she dealt with that like a trooper, came out swingin and carrying her torch. Fast forward to January 14 shed just turned 60, late February she was diagnosed with uteran/ cervical cancer that spread into her blood, bone and lymp nodes. She then again went in swinging had chemo yet again but a different kind. Her heart couldnt handle the ful strength stuff so they had to use a low dose version that may have or may not have worked at the time. What ever it took we were going to do it. After a few weeks of doing that she went in and had a checkup done and it was out of the bone, but had spread to the fatty tissue around her stomach. Talk about taking the wind out of your sails. We didnt stop there! Her oncologist Dr. Charles Whalen had another option of going down to Indy to see if they could run some tests down there and come up with an option and they did. It was like a chemo pill so to say, that was hormonal to the type of cancer she had. That was the only almost non lethal chance we had so we took it and ran with it. Everything was going good, but it didnt help. We took her to the doctor about 3 weeks ago because she started bloating and was in a boatload of pain. Upon checkup they admitted her to the hospital in which she spent about 2 days in there to get her pain to go down a bit and ready her up for a surgery that they were going to do to her to put a catheter in to drain the accumulating liquid around her stomach. All fine and dandy lets do it. Fast forward to the 1st of July, now mind you this all happened a week prior. She had wanted all lof us to go with her to this appointment with her oncologist who is a very nice very blunt and straight to the point kind of fellow and i admire this guy for not hem-hawing around. He told us she had at the very least a week left. Woah! That was a lot to take in in just that moment. So we set up hospice to come in and take care of a few things. But it was pretty much straight down from there. Fast for forward to today around 3pm she was very weak so we tried to give her some water and she started getting sick and couldnt hold herself up so my sister crawled in bed behind her to hold her up and she coughed a little bit and then just passed away in my sisters arms surrounded by loved ones. It has been a very long day for all of us. The reasoning behind the long story is for you few that are struggling, stay strong, never give up always have hope and faith. Carpe diem, live every day for what it is. Keep your head high and push on stay strong.
