Most youth courts only take defendants who have little or no - TopicsExpress

Most youth courts only take defendants who have little or no juvenile record, who are being charged with a misdemeanor crime, and who have consented in writing to take part in the youth court diversion. It is important to note that the youth court model is not a silver bullet for combating juvenile crime; juveniles who commit serious or violent crimes or who suffer from addiction, mental or familial problems need deserve more structure and support than what a youth court can offer. Nevertheless, the youth court model does act as a successful alternative for first time and/or minor offenders.
