Motorcycle Cannonball Run Stage-12 (299 miles) from Springville, - TopicsExpress

Motorcycle Cannonball Run Stage-12 (299 miles) from Springville, UT to Elko, NV with a big stopover at the Bonneville Salt Flats by Wendover, NV for a second and final panorama portrait. John Classen came up with a good route that took us around the entire Salt Lake City metro area on 2-lane roads, although there was one very intense 1/2 mile section of construction that had my trusty rider Dave Przgocki caught in a very soft and precarious sandy track while I had another rider fairly close on not much more secure stone rubble. These are the things that put the word “Endurance” in Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run.” Other than that, it was pretty smooth sailing with solid blue to beautifully clouded skies (and one intense dust-wind-rain storm that blew in while we were at the dealer in Elko.) The panorama was my main event for the day, since we had to get there more than an hour early for set up. This went smoother than Daytona since there weren’t a few hundred spectators mingling around and no cloud cover or tides to worry about. We set all the bikes on the hard packed salt that acts almost like a road through the salt while I set up the camera in the soft wet salt about 100 feet out. It sort of reminded me of wet slushy snow in the spring, only it is salt and water! There is a posted photo from the panorama setup so you can see how the bikes were arranged, although this was was taken before the word went out to “pose” when riders were just mingling, which looks great. While while bikes and riders looked so good crossing the huge expanses, it was the amazing skies that really took me!! BTW - it was Big Swed’es and OZ’s birthday yeterday! Happy birthday to you both
