Motorists in the NCD suburb of Gerehu will continue to battle with - TopicsExpress

Motorists in the NCD suburb of Gerehu will continue to battle with poor road conditions in three major areas because of poor planning and monitoring by relevant authorities, and the lack of social responsibility by three business entities: (1) The major intersection that dissects Gerehus major Stages just past the main shopping complex area has long been problematic for drivers because of Papindo Tradings poor sewerage and plumbing which causes both underground and open overflow down towards the road. No amount of patchwork on that part of the road will alleviate the problem. This scenario has been ongoing since the late 80s; (2) A similar scenario is repeated along the Nigibata Drive where poor plumbing and drainage by Yumi Yet Real Estate at their Te Wana Compound has resulted in moon-crater-like conditions on that part of the Drive. The heavy rains of late has certainly not helped; and (3) The PoMNaths/Botanics curve along the Goro Kaeaga Road leading into Gerehu has long been problematic during rainy seasons, however, the situation is now made worse with overflow of silt and heavy gravel that flows down from real estate developments atop the Rainbow Estate hills. Again, poor drainage is the main cause. Question: When will officers within relevant regulatory divisions of organisations such as NCDC, etc., get out of their offices and check on the various developments taking place, as well as those already established to ensure that businesses take appropriate measures to remove, if not limit, such unnecessary inconveniences on the motoring public? Maybe its time motorists living in Gerehu take up Frank Cattralls (the 62 year old Englishman who sued his local town council for his vehicle repair bill - his car was damaged when he drove into a pothole) example and sue NCDC, as well as those businesses concerned, for any loss they may incur due to poor road conditions.
