Mount Merapi is one of the most active volcanoes on the island of Java. It has erupted more than 80 times and has been threatening to erupt yet again. The volcanologists at Mount Merapi have taken it upon themselves to scale the mountain, risking unpredictable weather and sudden eruptions, in order to monitor the threat.
